Prince and Princess want to be ordinary Canadians.
if this is true – if the couple really do wish to join our mad crowd, then well and good and welcome indeed – we will do everything we can to help protect and respect their privacy.
however – and they should please be aware – this wish has to be genuine, because it is a wish that we can respect, that many of our ancestors also came to Canada to fulfill – so to earn our respect they must stand properly amongst us, and join in and make their own way, as we all do.
whereas (heaven forfend) they should, in any way, seek to trade on their royal status, in order to impress us, or take money or any other interest from us, or even just to be better than us…
they should expect our welcome to vanish, and the paparazzi to rush in, filling the void, with us right behind them, egging the cameras on.
i do hope they understand this, are they aware?
are they really trying to abdicate, to be common like us, like that king, and the American wife?
we would love them for that, and they would probably make a lot of good friends.
however otherwise, we are sorry, but if they want to be Royal in Canada, then they are coining an image, and all of the cameras are a necessary part of that exchange.
so, Megan and Harry, if only i could speak to you – what is it to be?
